As part of the exhibition held at de Appel arts centre in Amsterdam, where Episode 2 of Edition III – Masquerade was taking place, Jon Mikel Euba showed his video piece One Minute Of Silence (2006).
Like a musician who writes down a song on a sheet of paper to be played live, Euba’s One Minute of Silence departs from a score constituted, not by words, but by images. Images of people immersed in poses and gestures, of pop singers performing on a stage. One after another, the enacted images create a sequence; the sequence plus the intervals between one image and the following create a structure; this abstract structure is translated to reality by actual people and on real sites.
Euba gave a lecture performance on RE: Horse with Ricardo Cuadros and Emilio Corzo at de Appel arts centre.
In addition, RE: Horse was performed at the Stedelijk Museum Bureau Amsterdam as part of the performance programme of the exhibition at de Appel arts centre, and included the participation of Bart ten Berge, Monique ten Berge, Jon Mikel Euba, Joris Lindhout, Barbara Staffeleu and Fabel the horse.
Finally, Rewriting RE: Horse was a writing exercise by Jon Mikel Euba with Hilde de Bruijne, Binna Choi, Mariette Dölle, Christina Li, Lisette Smits, Steven ten Thije and Fatosh Ustek.
