    2. The second installment of If I Can’t Dance’s travelling programme in the Netherlands takes place at Theaterfestival Boulevard in Den Bosch. Artists Johanna Billing, Gerard Byrne, Matti Braun, Yael Davids, and LIGNA present works that evolved out of their presentations at Festival a/d Werf in Utrecht and engage with the city, its inhabitants and its buildings. The artists thus move beyond the format of the museum presentation and expand into disciplines of music, dance, theatre, and film and incorporate these in their own practices. Departing from the live moment in their work, the artists seek to find alternative models for the relations between object, image, performer and audience.

    3. A thorough engagement with the city of Den Bosch is established thanks to the artists – as Johanna Billing introduces us to the local music scene, we researched social and public urban spaces for LIGNA, and the works of Yael Davids and Gerard Byrne required us to find very specific locations. Matti Braun’s project consists of a series of presentations in several locations (among which Artors and de Verkadefabriek). In artists initiative Artis the different strands of discoveries, materials, and connections that are developed in Utrecht and Den Bosch come together.
