    2. In the October session of the Amsterdam Reading Group we will reconnect with the material from the September session on Eduardo Viveiros de Castro and perspectivism, particularly his ideas on the meaning of agency and representation. We will be guided through new reading material by Reading Group member Amani Maihoub, who has proposed a selection from Alfred Gell's book 'Art and Agency' (1998) (referenced in De Castro's text). Gell is a British anthropologist who formulated a theory of art based on abductive reasoning. We're reading chapter 2 from his book 'The Theory of the Art Nexus', and also highly recommend reading the introduction.

In addition, we'll read a text by Magnus Course, Professor at the University of Edinburgh. His text, 'Why Mapuche Sing' is an ethnography on the rural Mapuche people from southern Chile and their practice of inhabiting subjectivities through song.
