As part of the discursive programme, miartalks 2016, at the miart fair in Milan, If I Can’t Dance’s director Frédérique Bergholtz will chair a conversation on the topic, Changing Displays: Exhibition as Event. The conversation will take place on 10 April, and will include contributions from Hendrik Folkerts, Curator of documenta 14; Vincent Honoré, Chief Curator of the David Roberts Art Foundation (DRAF); and Fatos Üstek, independent curator and writer. Together they will consider the increasing presence of performance in contemporary art, and how the lines between durational event and temporary exhibition are starting to blur. They will do this to think through how institutions are responding to changing artistic practices by creating spaces that are more flexible, temporary, and performance focused, or how artists have to adapt how they work to fit into these conditions? The conversation will take place in English.

Changing Displays: Exhibtion as Event, is part of the three day miartalks 2016 programme, running from the 8 – 10 April at the miart fair. The programme functions as a cross-disciplinary forum that brings together leading international artists, curators, filmmakers, writers, and other people engaged with the visual and performing arts, to consider how time based practices are re-defining the boundaries of contemporary art. The programme is curated by Ben Borthwich, Artistic Director of Plymouth Arts Centre, with further details available here.
