If I Can’t Dance, I Don’t Want To Be Part Of Your Revolution has been invited by the SNDO – School of New Dance Development (SNDO) to further develop its Curating and Performance course for students within the fourth year of its programme.
In Curating and Performance with SNDO4, the students will work in conversation with If I Can’t Dance director Frédérique Bergholtz and curator Susan Gibb to think through curatorial methodologies and concerns in the programming, production, presentation and communication of their first public presentation of graduation works. These presentations take place across two programmes at two venues in Amsterdam, which are located outside of the Theaterschool in order to provide the students with professional working conditions and artistic contexts.
The first programme of graduation works will be presented at Frascati Theater on the 24, 25 and 26 March, and the second at Veem House for Performance on the 31 March, 1 and 2 April 2016. Each programme will tour to Uferstudios, Berlin later in April as part of an ongoing exchange between SNDO and the Berlin based bachelor programme of Hochschulübergreifendes Zentrum Tanz (HZT).
The Curating and Performance course runs parallel to the students individual creation process, and will unfold over thirteen-sessions placed at selected intervals across the presentation’s development, and the two public programmes of performances at Frascati and Veem. It will also include a final evaluation meeting. Following this course, the students are responsible for working together to curate their final graduation festival in June at Frascati Theater, Amsterdam.
Curating and Performance is commissioned by SNDO – School for New Dance Development. The programme contents has been developed by If I Can’t Dance’s director Frédérique Bergholtz and curator Susan Gibb, and will be co-ordinated by Susan Gibb.
