On Thursday 3 November, Naufus Ramírez-Figueroa will present the first in a cycle of new performances, which attempt to exhaust his interest in the Guatemalan Civil War as a recurring subject of his work, and which he will develop further for his commission as an artist in If I Can’t Dance’s Edition VI – Event and Duration (2015–2016).

Presented within BMW Tate Live: Performance Room – the Tate Modern’s online platform for performance – Ramírez-Figueroa’s work, Illusion of Matter, will be available to be streamed online by audiences across the world via the Tate’s website and YouTube channel live at 8pm (GMT) and after the event. The performance will be followed by a live Q&A between Naufus Ramírez-Figueroa and curator Catherine Wood.

Illusion of Matter is commissioned and produced as part of Corpus, network for performance practice. Corpus is Bulegoa z/b (Bilbao), CAC (Vilnius), KW (Berlin), If I Can’t Dance (Amsterdam), Playground (STUK & M, Leuven), and Tate Modern (London). Corpus is co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union.
