    2. Closed workshop

For the May session of On Praxis, An Unstated Theory (Writing Out Loud), the group will be based at the Designhuis in Eindhoven as part of the Dutch Art Institute’s partnership with the Van Abbemuseum for Becoming More.

Here the group will conclude the translation exercise that they have been undertaking since the commencement of the course in October 2016, and for which they have been asked to progressively translate a lecture by Euba into different media. Framed under the title “From Score to Explanation” the session will include a collective exercise in which the students perform a sound piece that is based on a text that recapitulates this ongoing translation exercise. For this the students will use the pre-recorded paragraph of this text that they were each given in the previous session, and with which they have reworked the sound as desired.

To complement this exercise, Euba will also screen a film by an artist and present a new text entitled “Desensitization towards objects”, that complements previous lectures on the idea of the ‘object’ and ‘anticipation’.

On Praxis, An Unstated Theory (Writing Out Loud) is a yearlong course conceived by artist Jon Mikel Euba at the invitation of and curated by If I Can't Dance, I Don't Want To Be Part Of Your Revolution. The course is coordinated and co-tutored by If I Can't Dance curator Susan Gibb.
