We are pleased to present a season of performances by the Ueinzz Theatre Company to accompany philosopher and Ueinzz member Peter Pál Pelbart’s Performance in Residence research project for Edition VI – Event and Duration (2015 – 2016).

The Ueinzz Theatre Company was founded in 1997 in São Paulo, and crosses frontiers between art, life, madness, and subjectivity through its schizoscenic constitution and practice. It proposes a performing territory “for all those who feel the world around them is crumbling.”

In Amsterdam they will present the latest episode in an ongoing series of performances inspired by the experimental French educator Fernand Deligny (1913 – 1996) and his unrealised idea for a play or a film in which there are more actors than roles in a troupe.

Of the performance, entitled Zero Gravity, Episode V: Spaces, Ueinzz writes:
There isn’t enough space for all people in the world. Some people live in limbo, between walls, others were thrown into the sea. A small group decides to board a ship in search of other worlds, of possibles, zero gravity… Utopia, evasion or lucidity? In the passage through sidereal Eden there is hybrid beings. A crack in the sky makes its appearance: a hint of a world about to collapse or open up to another dimension? The shaman friends of xapiri monkeys are invited to face this challenge. In the middle of clashes, fights, assaults, the fire of Nero, heads on trays, dances, new constellations emerge, conversations with stars.

Ueinzz will present their work across three evenings: on Wednesday 7 December they will open up their method of working to an audience during an Open Rehearsal; and on the following evening, Thursday 8 December, they will present their first performance of Zero Gravity, Episode V: Spaces, followed by a conversation with the Ueinzz Theatre Company and a special guest to be announced. Both the Open Rehearsal and the first Performance will occur at the Badhuistheater.

On Saturday 10 December, Ueinzz will move to the Dokzaal at the Plantage Dok for the final performance of their tour in Amsterdam.

Zero Gravity, Episode V: Spaces is presented as part of If I Can’t Dance’s Finale for Edition VI – Event and Duration (2015 – 2016).
