The fifth Tonight event featured Sarah Pierce. Sarah Pierce presented a performance that is part of her project It’s Time Man. It Feels Imminent in which she interrogates the emptying-out of the political gesture and the way we negotiate agency in public space. The performance is related to her interest in in the way we speak about the political in art and what bearing in this respect the legacy of the 1970s conceptual art practices has on the present moment.
The afternoon was concluded by a contribution of Anne de Vries (music) and Voin de Voin (dance) focusing on ‘disco spirit’.
Anne de Vries (1977) is visual artist and DJ. He graduated from the Rietveld Academie in 2002. De Vries focuses on staged photography. He was commissioned by Foam, museum for contemporary photography, and the Nederlands Filmmuseum. He was guest curator for the Arnhem Mode Biënnale edition 2007.
Voin de Voin (1978) is a performance artist. He studied visual arts, film and theatre. Voin de Voin just finished the Performing Arts section at Dasarts Institute for Advanced Studies in Amsterdam. His work was shown in European festivals, the Melbourn Art Festival, Dumbo Arts festival (New York), Nylo – The living art museum and many others.
