    2. Each month—across September, October, November and December—If I Can’t Dance will introduce an artist and a researcher of VII (2017–2018), Social Movement through a series of events that will take place at various locations in Amsterdam. For these the commissioned artists will present an existing work and the Performance in Residence researchers an introduction to their project.

For the first event in September, keyon gaskin will present their performance its not a thing at Dansmakers Podium, Amsterdam across two evenings, 21 and 22 September, at 7pm.

Of the work, writers have reflected:

"... no matter how hard keyon gaskin tries to make the performance not a thing, ‘its not a thing’ is somehow the most captivating thing in town.”

      –– Jamie Hale, The Oregonian

"gaskin’s work is less about a whole picture––a total or totalizing knowledge––than it is about intimacy, failure to see, nearness that obstructs rather than clarifies, complicates... an expression of that nearness, an interrogation of modalities that insist on clear pictures, on accounts of what was missed. Instead, this work unsettles, undoes, asks what it means, looks like, feels like, to come undone, to see only fragments, to have little or no context."

      –– Litia Perta, art&education

Tickets are €7,50 / students €5 and can be booked via Dansmakers.

After the September 22 performance we invite our audience to join us to Veem House for Performance’s launch of their 100 Day House.
