1. Alexandra Bachzetsis (1974, Zürich, Switzerland) is a performance artist and choreographer based in Basel. She was trained at a.o. the Dimitrischule in Verscio, the Performance Education Program at the STUKarts centre in Leuven (Belgium), and DasArts in Amsterdam. During her training years, she started to work as a dancer in contemporary dance/performance contexts, collaborating, among others, with Sasha Waltz & Guests in Berlin and with Les Ballets C. de la B. in Ghent, where she worked with Christine De Smedt and Koen Augustijnen.

Her main interests pertain to the representation of femininity and the mass-cultural infatuation with the female body. These interests she explores within a wider frame of questions addressing the many methodologies of choreographing and performative behaviour, as well as questions of codification and translation. In 2007, she received the Migros Kulturprozent Jubilee Award. In that same year she also co-founded Company together with Lies Vanborm and Tina Bleuler.

As a choreographer and (sometimes solo) dancer/performer, Bachzetsis has authored and co-authored a.o. Dancing at Paradiso in Amsterdam, with participation of students of the Rietveld Academy (2009); ACT at Festspielhaus Hellerau in Dresden, in collaboration with Lies Vanborm and Tina Bleuler (2007); and Perfect at Monty Theatre Antwerp (2001). In 2008 she presented the solo exhibition, SHOW, which took place as a series of interconnected live acts at the Kunsthalle Basel. In 2010 a solo exhibition of her work took place at the Kunsthaus in Glarus.
