Karl Holmqvist (1964, Västerås, Sweden) lives and works in Berlin and Stockholm.
Karl Holmqvist works with language based art, presented in exhibitions both in written formats and as spoken word performances. He holds a BA in Literature and Linguistics, from the University of Stockholm.
He has taken part in numerous international exhibitions, including Manifesta 8 in Cartagena (2010) and 27 Senses at the Chisenhale Gallery, London (2010); The Malady of Writing at MACBA, Barcelona (2009); Performa 5 and 7, in New York (2005, 2007); and Utopia Station at the 50th Venice Biennale (2003). Solo exhibitions include I´LL MAKE THE WORLD EXPLODE, Galerie Giti Nourbakhsch, Berlin (2009); and Intervista con el Vampiro, Gaga Arte Contemporaneo, Mexico City (2009); I’M WITH YOU IN ROCKLAND, Argos Arts, Brussels (2009); Down and Out, Galerie Dependance, Brussels (2008); Boomtown, The Living Art Museum, Reykjavik (2008); and The Grey Triangle, Hollybush Gardens, London (2007).
