If I Can’t Dance, I Don’t Want To Be Part Of Your Revolution has been invited by the SNDO – School of New Dance Development (School voor Nieuwe Dansontwikkeling) to further develop its Curating and Performance course for students within the third year of its programme.
The third year course builds upon a nine-session theoretical course for first and second year students that was delivered in April and June 2015, and which is designed to introduce students to ideas and debates around curatorial practices and curating performance through case studies, field trips and reading. Curating and Performance with SNDO3 extends this by providing students with the opportunity to apply these ideas within a practical setting. In the third year course the students will work in conversation with If I Can’t Dance’s director Frédérique Bergholtz and curator Susan Gibb to think through curatorial methodologies and concerns in the programming, production, presentation and communication of their public presentation in the dance theatre of de Theaterschool, Amsterdam.
The course will unfold over eight-sessions placed at selected intervals across the presentation’s development, and the two public programmes of performances in the dance theatre. It will also include a final evaluation meeting.
Curating and Performance is commissioned by SNDO – School for New Dance Development. The programme contents has been developed by If I Can’t Dance’s director Frédérique Bergholtz and curator Susan Gibb, and will be co-ordinated by Susan Gibb.
